FICCI comments on PM Independence Day speech
New Delhi, 15 August 2014: FICCI welcomes Hon. Prime Minister's speech on Independence Day where he emphasised the need to work collectively, inclujidng with the states, society, corporates and all political parties towards Nation Building. FICCI
has long advocated the need to Welcome Capital. The Prime Minister gave
clear signals to investors both domestic and global
- to make India a global manufacturing and export hub. We are now
confident that the Make in India' and 'Made in India vision will be
supported by requisite policy and implementation measures for enhancing
the competitiveness of our manufacturing sector.
This is critical if we have to create a million jobs each month for
next ten years and ensure a sustainable balance of payments
said Mr. Sidharth Birla, President, FICCI.
We further hope that the new structure that replaces Planning Commission will provide a concrete direction towards broad-based development and its monitoring, he added. FICCI agrees that good governance would be greatly enhanced by e-governance and digitisation. This is an absolute imperative for connecting the remotest of villages and sharing the fruits of growth with people in these regions. Digitization will also help realize the vision of financial inclusion and skill development, said Mr. Birla. Schemes like Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana will set new standards for Parliamentarians and encourage optimal utilisation of public funds, through development right from the granular levels. The industry is equally committed to support the government in all social and development initiatives. Hon. PM address has strongly highlighted the need to imbibe social values and ethos in personal and professional lives for taking country to the path of progress and development. The ten year moratorium appeal for casteism and communal violence is essential for overall peace, harmony and sustained development. The collective efforts of SAARC countries in poverty elimination will also further the objectives of regional development. |
