The
Special Judge for CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi has convicted Shri
Hiren Tokas, then Municipal Councilor of Delhi and Shri Subhash Chander Jain
(private person) in a bribery case. Shri Hiren Tokas, then Municipal Councilor
was sentenced today to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of
Rs.25,000/- while other accused Shri Subhash Chander Jain (private person) to
undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment with fine ofRs.5,000/-.
The instant case was registered by CBI on 09.04.2003 against Shri Hiren Tokas, Municipal Councilor, Ward No.16, Delhi Nagar Nigam, R.K. Puram, New Delhi under section 9 of PC Act, 1988 on the basis of a complaint. It was alleged that Shri Hiren Tokas had demanded a bribe of Rs.One Lakh to avoid demolition of the Complainants shop. On repeated request, the said bribe amount was reduced to Rs.50,000/- by Shri Hiren Tokas. CBI laid a trap and the accused Shri Hiren Tokas was caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- as first installment from the Complainant. After completion of investigation, the charge-sheet was filed on 11.08.2004 before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi U/s 120-B IPC and 7 & 13(1)(d) r/w 13(2) of P.C. Act 1988 and substantive offences against accused Shri Hiren Tokas, then Municipal Councilor and Shri Subhash Chander Jain (private person), a resident of Palam Colony, New Delhi. |
