DIRECTOR CBI INAUGURATES THREE DAY WORKSHOP ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CRIMES, TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT AND COUNTERFEITING
Director, CBI Shri Ranjit Sinha today inaugurated the 3-day Workshop organized by the CBI in association with World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on Intellectual Property Crimes Crimes,

Trademark Infringement and Counterfeiting at CBI Academy, Ghaziabad (UP).


            Addressing the participants, Shri Sinha stressed on the need for capacity building of Police Officers to deal with Intellectual Property Crimes as an organized crime and stressed for the need for a multi-disciplinary approach to tackle this menacing issue which endangers the countrys economy and credibility in the field of trade and commerce.


            This is for the first time that CBI & WIPO have joined hands in capacity building in respect of investigation and enforcement of Intellectual Property Crimes.  The Workshop was attended by Nodal Officers enforcing Intellectual Property Crimes from all over India; officers from State Economic Offences Wing; CID, besides CBI officers posted in Economic Offences Wings and Anti Corruption Branches of India.


           The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (IPR Division), Govt. of India was represented in the said Workshop by Ms. Chandni Raina, Director who was invited as a faculty. Other faculty includes senior officers from CBI; INTERPOL; WIPO; Customs; Coast Guards; Judiciary; Film Industry; Music Industry; besides several private establishments.


            At the Inaugural Ceremony, Shri Anurag Garg, Joint Director (Administration & Training), CBI was also present.
