The Chandigarh police not just constantly working to ensure security of citizens but by going the extra mile to organise a massive awareness drive The Chandigarh Police Week from 18th November to 22nd November-2014. Under this celebration various programs were organized. Safety of women has always been the first priority, so on 18th November a Women Safety Rally was organised which was flagged off by Honble MP Kiron Kher from DAV College sector 10. Later in the week an interactive session was conducted at the residence of Sri R.P.Upadhayay, IPS Inspector General of Police, UT Chandigarh where the Honble Governor of Punjab & Administrator UT Chandigarh also visited. The Chandigarh Police also engaged children from various schools of the region and spread awareness among them about various issues and the Chandigarh police also organised visits of school children to the Police Stations and Police Control Room to see the practical working. This exercise not only helped win trust of young children but all the children were proud to see the efforts, Chandigarh Police puts to ensure safety of all citizens of chandigarh. During the chandigarh police week a traffic awareness rally was also conducted. The main objective of this rally was to create awareness amongst masses about the importance of obeying traffic rules. People from different status of life participated in this rally and vowed to follow all traffic rules diligently and ensure the fellow travellers safety. Then later in the week the Chandigarh police collaborated with various associations such as the resident welfare association, senior welfare associations and market welfare associations. The Chandigarh police organised interactive sessions with all these associations and during these sessions queries and doubts of various individuals were answered. Also during this week the Chandigarh police inaugurated the Special Security Branch and the Dhanas Police Post. These were inaugurated by IGP Sri RP Upadhayay. The agenda of the chandigarh police week was
not just to create awareness amongst masses but it also tried to promote unity
and harmony amongst all citizens of chandigarh. For this purpose a musical
evening was organised. It involved music sensations Lakhwinder Wadali and Vinay
Pal Buttar. The chief guest of this program was
Sh. K K Sharma, IAS Advisor to Administrator. The Chandigarh Police Week ended on 22nd
November with the most anticipated
program of the year The Times IGP Golf
Tournament. Through this tournament the Chandigarh Police ensured
interaction and engagement with the top corporate honchos, bureaucrats and
entrepreneurs of the region. Over 125 people participated in this Invitational
Golf Tournament. After all, these
people enjoyed a good game of golf, in the evening a gala program was organised
to give away the prizes. Over 200 to 300 people attended this gala evening
programme. During this programme Sh. R.P. Upadhyay, IPS, IGP/UT felicitated Sh.Shatrujit
Kapoor, DIG CID Haryana, Sh.C.S.R.Reddy ,ADGP and VP, CGA and Sh.D.S. Gill, President
CGC. Also IGP SH R.P. Upadhayay gave away prizes to the winners as well
as to officers who made sincere efforts for the successful of Police Week.
The prize distribution ceremony conducted on a musical note with soulful
renditions by the ever melodious young musical sensation Rupali Jagga who kept
