Sh K. Durga Prasad an IPS officer of Telangana(1981 batch) took over as DG CRPF Monday. Sh K. Durga Prasad is a seasoned police officer and had joined CRPF as Special DG on 29th January, 2015. He earlier served as Commissioner of Police of Vishakhapatnam city, IGP Intelligence and IGP APSP Battalion. He also served in the elite 'Greyhounds' as IG & then as Addl. DGP from September, 2004 to April, 2008. He served as Addl.DGP, Police Headquarters, AP; Addl. DGP (Training); Addl.DGP (Provision & Logistics) & Addl.DGP (Sports). He went on to head the elite �Special Protection Group (SPG)� from November, 2011  to November, 2014. 

He also had a stint in CRPF as IG, CoBRA,  from April, 2008 to February, 2009 and had a vital role in raising these elite battalions of jungle warriors. 

He has attended various courses like 12th Level-2 Management course at SVPNPA; 

Explosives & explosive devices course from ERDL, Pune; Vertical interaction courses in AASC, Guwahati, IMG, Trivandrum & IIT, Mumbai &  DFID Leadership module at DGID, Nainital. 

Born on 26th February, 1957, he joined the Indian Police Service on 2nd December, 1981. He has been decorated with Indian Police Medal (2002), Antrik Suraksha Medal (2002), President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (2010) & SPG Medal (2014)
