FICCI membership and employees pooling in resources for J&K flood relief

NEW DELHI, September 16, 2014. The apex industry body FICCI has engaged with its membership and staff for relief and rehabilitation initiatives for the flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir. While several small and medium industries have come forward to support this initiative through FICCI, many large scale industry members of FICCI have taken the responsibility to reach out directly to the victims. FICCI is coordinating with NDMA to disburse medicines from its member pharma companies to the flood affected areas in J&K. Approximately, Rs. 5 crores have been directed towards J&K relief operations from FICCI membership till now.

Additionally, FICCI President Mr. Sidharth Birla has announced a Task Force to undertake the rehabilitation work in J&K. FICCI is in touch with the Central and state administration to carry out the rehabilitation work in the flood affected state.

FICCI is trying to replicate the efforts that were undertaken post Uttrakhand floods where the Chamber had engaged with the state administration for building homes, providing geospatial facilities and fabrication of biodegradable toilets for affected civilians.

FICCI employees have also come forward to support the cause that needs urgent national attention. In addition to providing material for relief operations via NGOs identified for support, FICCI employees have pledged their one-day salary towards reconstruction of J&K.
